Holiday Nostalgia - The Ginger Snap Old Fashioned

I love a seasonal Old Fashioned and now that it’s the holiday season, I figured I should go for a nostalgic flavor. Ginger Snap gang, assemble.
This Ginger Snap Old Fashioned is made with two dashes of Angostura bitters and .25 oz of thick demarara syrup that I made with puréed fresh ginger, cinnamon and a bit of cloves.
As always this is perfect for bourbon like @new_liberty_distillery ‘s Kinsey 4 year. Alternatively you can’t go wrong with balancing the sweetness of the ginger snap syrup with a sturdy Rye like @workhorserye Palehorse Rye.
It’s garnished with a big ol’ orange peel for holiday flare and is perfect for putting up all your Christmas decorations and wondering why Paul McCartney decided on so much synth for a holiday song.

Ginger Snap Old Fashioned
2-3 dashes of Angostora Bitters
.25 oz of Ginger Snap Syrup
2.5 oz of Kinsey 4 Year Whiskey or Workhorse Pale-horse Rye
Large Orange Peel/ Express
Instruction: Build in mixing glass, add ingredients in order listed, mix until glass is cold, strain into a rocks glass of fresh ice and garnish with a large orange peel.
